J Blount Williams
Chairman/CEO
Blount Williams is the Chairman and CEO of Alfred Williams & Company. A native North Carolinian, Blount joined AWC in 1981 and is a direct descendent of the company founder, Alfred Williams. Blount represents the fifth generation of family ownership and is the sole shareholder of the company. Blount earned a BA in History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a MBA from the Babcock School of Management at Wake Forest University.
Blount is Chairman of the Board at Marbles Kids Museum, serves on the Board of Trustees for Wake Education Partnership and served on the Executive Committee of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
Married with four grown children, Blount plays tennis and enjoys riding his Percheron/Thoroughbred cross country.
Edward Boiar
Chief Operating Officer
Ed Boiar is the Chief Operating Officer for Alfred Williams & Company responsible for managing all aspects of day to day business as well as delivering the desired operational results. Prior to joining Alfred Williams & Company in 1996, Ed spent ten years with Herman Miller, Inc., with his last position in the Asia Pacific Division leading an initiative for local sourcing in Australia and East Asia.
Ed earned his B. A. in Business Administration from the College of New Jersey. He and his wife, Lauren, live in Cary with their two sons.
Gordon Brown
Chief Financial Officer
Gordon Brown is the Chief Financial Officer of Alfred Williams & Company and is responsible for all financial reporting, human resources and information technology for the company. Gordon joined AWC in September 2005 after three (3) years leading the state and local tax department of Nortel. Prior to his career at Nortel, Gordon worked for eleven (11) years with Ernst & Young, a Big Four accounting firm, in Raleigh. Gordon has Bachelors of Science and Masters of Accounting degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a certified public accountant in North Carolina and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. Gordon also serves on the board of directors and executive committees of Wake Education Partnership, a non-profit advocacy group for K-12 public education, and the Boys and Girls Club of Wake County.
Travis Harter
Market President- Nashville, TN
Before joining Alfred Williams & Company in 2009, Travis held the role of Territory Manager for the State of Tennessee for Herman Miller. Travis is a graduate of Indiana University and his experience includes five years as an Account Executive with Lees Commercial Carpets, and five years with Humanscale Corporation as a Business Development Manager for the state of Tennessee. His community involvement includes IIDA Nashville and the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce’s Partnership 2010.
John McKinney
Market President, Raleigh Region
John McKinney is the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the Raleigh, Durham and Greensboro Regions and is responsible for all sales activity and community engagement for Alfred Williams & Company in the Raleigh market. John joined Alfred Williams & Company in September 2008, after a 19 year career with AT&T, where he was most recently Regional Director External Affairs for the Triangle. His community involvement includes serving on the Board of Directors for Wake Technical Community College Foundation, where he is the immediate Past Chair of the Board and the Poe Center, where he is Chair-Elect of the Board.
John is a graduate of the University of North Carolina- Charlotte with a degree in Business Administration and a native of North Carolina.
John, his wife and two daughters have lived in Raleigh since 2002.
William Luce
Market President- South Carolina
Prior to joining Alfred Williams & Company, William spent 8 years at IMI Resort Holdings in Greenville, SC as Vice President of Sales & Marketing.
William received a Bachelor of Science in Management with a minor in Marketing from Clemson University. He is married with 3 children and is active as a youth basketball, baseball and flag football coach. William is also a Habitat for Humanity volunteer and former Eagle Scout.
